Fall Art Submissions

All Opening Receptions fall on the First Friday of each month. Participating artists are expected to attend the opening receptions.

Please note that priority is given to POAC Artist Members. You can learn more about becoming an Artist Member here. Participation in gallery exhibits is free for Artist Members; there is a $25 fee for non-members.

Calls for Artists are open for the following shows for the Fall exhibit season:

Call of the Wild: September 6 – October 25 at the Power House

Have you ever felt the call of the wild, the urge to pick up your paints, your pastels, your paper and easel, and explore outdoors in search of the landscape that calls to you? This exhibit will feature plein air artwork (artwork created outdoors), depicting everything from the overgrown Sandpoint alley to the deepest wilderness. All 2-D media welcome. 8-12 artists.

Life in Motion: September 6 – November 27 at the POAC Gallery

When life zips by too fast and you’re overwhelmed by the busyness of the day-to-day, how do you process your “Life in Motion?” Do you have a statement on our fast-paced modern world or on the pros/cons of social media? Maybe capturing the hovering wings of a hummingbird or your grandkids playing soccer sums it up for you. This theme is up for interpretation, so get creative! All media welcome. 12-18 artists.

Plateau? No!: October 4 – November 27 at the Columbia Bank Plaza

Most artists (and people) reach a point in their careers where they’re doing well and could comfortably coast along doing the same old thing. In this exhibit, we will feature artists who are resisting the “plateau” by challenging themselves to learn a new medium, explore new subject matter, or otherwise push themselves further than they’ve ever gone before. This show will be juried and proposals are required. All media welcome. 5-6 artists.

Contemporary Fiber: November 1 – January 31 at the Power House

Fiber weaves through every part of our lives, from the coat that keeps you warm in a winter storm to the bristles in your hairbrush. From these humble origins, POAC’s annual exhibit of contemporary fiber features artists elevating natural materials to an art form. The show features everything from art quilts to baskets and custom clothing to felt sculpture. Fiber artists only. 8-12 artists.

Winter Art Market & Ornament Display: December 6 – 27 at the POAC Gallery

This is a two-part exhibit, and you may apply for either or both. The Winter Art Market features small works designed to be sold as holiday gifts. We ask that 2-D work measures 18″x18″ or smaller. For the first time, artists are also invited to create Art Ornaments, 6 inches square or smaller, which will be hung in the POAC office throughout the holidays. The gallery will also be open the Saturday following the Opening Reception. All media welcome. We can accommodate many artists in this exhibit. Discounted $10 fee for guest artists.

Call for Theme Submissions: January 3-31 at the POAC Gallery

Do you have an idea for an exhibit theme? Please share your idea in this form before September 6. The Visual Arts team will review submissions and select a theme. The show must be able to accommodate 10-15 artists.

To express interest in participating or to ask questions, please fill out this form.
