Instructor Expectations

Please read through all of the expectations below before submitting your application.

  1. Instructor application and class proposal

The instructor application and class proposal forms ask the instructor to include a short biographical section, a description of the course, and a student supply list. Please note that, upon acceptance, the information written in these sections will be included in the course catalog. To give students ample time to register, all forms must be completed at least three weeks before the class start date.
POAC may approve or decline any proposal for a class at its sole discretion.

2. Attendance

If an emergency or illness occurs, instructors should contact POAC staff as soon as possible so that students can be notified. Instructor absence without notification could lead to dismissal.

3. prep

The studio will be available 30 minutes before each class. Instructors should plan to arrive early enough to set-up for class before students arrive. Set-up should include covering tables with provided paper.

4. Building Use

All teachers should check out building keys from the POAC office and retain them for the duration of their class. Teachers may park behind the building and enter through the back door, but they will need to make sure to unlock the front gallery doors to allow students to enter the building.

Teachers will be given a cabinet shelf in which to store their supplies. If a teacher has additional supplies that don’t fit on the shelf, they will need to store them outside of the studio and bring them to class each session.

5. Clean-up

Instructors are expected to leave the classroom clean. Please leave enough time for your students to clean their work area prior to the end of class. There are products for clean-up under the sink.
Please follow the posted clean-up checklist to ensure all procedures have been followed before leaving the studio. The studio will be available 30 minutes after each class for clean-up and closure.

Instructor Application / class proposal

Please submit a separate application for each proposed class.
