Copper Dish with Steel Stand
In this 2-part informative and fun class, students will learn how to work with copper sheet and steel. They will lay out, cut and form a 2-1⁄2” dish the first day of the workshop. The second day they will be diving into how to use the oxy-acetylene torch. Students will be learning the safety and proper use of the torch in forming and welding the pieces of 1⁄8” steel rod together to create the steel stand which will hold the copper dish. The finished product will be an elegant functional piece of handmade art for their home or for a thoughtful gift to a loved one.
Some of the uses for the copper dish project include: Table salt holder, Tea candle dish, earring dish, small soap dish or anything other small item.
Processes and tools that will be used are as follows: Measuring, layout, cutting with beverly shear, belt sanding copper/steel, sinking copper w/ proper hammers, forming and welding steel w/ oxyacetylene torch.
About Dave Gonzo
Dave has been in the metalworking field for 26 years, creating metal art for 18 years and teaching metalworking (sculpture, blacksmithing, functional art) for 10 years.
He works mainly in metal and copper, and he sometimes combines them with other materials such as concrete, stone, and nature.

This class will be conducted at Dave’s Studio: 1023 Baldy Mt. Rd (Across from interstate concrete & next to Suzuki String Institute) Green buildings.
There are no restroom facilities on site due to being industrial area. Breaks will be taken when needed.

Studio fee
A studio fee of $15.00 will be due to the instructor on the day of the class. (Please bring cash.)
