Showcasing Local Art at the POAC Gallery
A key part of POAC’s mission is to support and showcase quality visual artists in our community. The POAC Gallery, located in downtown Sandpoint, hosts a new exhibition each month, with openings held on the first Friday of every month throughout the year. These openings offer an exciting opportunity for local artists to share their work with art enthusiasts, collectors, and visitors in a welcoming and creative space.
In addition to our gallery exhibits, POAC organizes the annual Art Walk during the summer months. From mid-June through mid-September, downtown businesses and galleries open their doors to artists of all mediums, providing incredible exposure to both locals and visitors from around the world. This event fosters a sense of community and encourages engagement with the arts, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry that Sandpoint has to offer.
Through these initiatives, POAC remains committed to enhancing the visibility of local talent and creating a vibrant arts scene that continues to inspire and connect individuals to the creative spirit of our region.

Galleries
The Pend Oreille Arts Council’s principal gallery is located in the heart of downtown Sandpoint in the historic old City Hall building, now home to POAC and the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint. This gallery space features rotating exhibits of local artwork from POAC Artist Members in both the POAC offices and Little Carnegie Hall. It is home to ArtWalk and themed exhibits.
When you come over the long bridge and enter Sandpoint the first large building you see on your right is The Old Powerhouse. Today The Old Powerhouse houses various businesses and Ross Hall photos, as well as an evolving exhibit of community artists’ artwork curated by POAC.
The Community Plaza gallery is POAC’s special exhibit gallery. We are occasionally contacted by an artist or teacher who has participated in or organized an interesting artistic project and is seeking a venue in which to share it. Directly across the street from Farmin Park, this space is in the heart of town and perfect for small and special shows. If you are interested in using the Community Plaza gallery to showcase your special project, please share your idea with us using the contact form. Please note that priority scheduling is given to POAC supporters, so become a supporter today!
Ancillary Galleries
POAC maintains gallery exhibits in seven ancillary galleries in Sandpoint, Ponderay, Dover, and Sagle. These venues allow people who would not typically seek out arts experiences to experience art in the places that they frequent in daily life. With varying hours and locations, these venues are often visited by local residents as well as tourists. They provide excellent opportunities for artists with medium-to-large bodies of work to display solo shows. Mountain West Bank Sandpoint Branch and P1FCU in Ponderay are all on four-month rotations. Dover City Hall and Northern Lights feature Artists in Residence and are rotated once a year.
