Learning to Draw: BACK TO BASICS
The art of Drawing, whether from life or imagination, is an intuitive process we use to inform our reality. Having a basic understanding of the tools and techniques of basic drawing helps us solve everyday problems and enhances our appreciation for the qualities in art. This drawing class will explore the foundations of the craft of drawing to better inform our search for achievement and delight —where drawing becomes your own personal vision.
In four, one and one-half hour classes, we will investigate 4 basic elements of drawing toward accomplishing personal drawing appreciation:
• Line Drawing and ‘Techniques
• Composition, Portrait and Landscape
• Perspective, 1 and 2 Point Investigation
• Rendering in Shade and Shadow
With a foundation of basic techniques, tools, and materials students will inform their imagination, and discover their creativity for an appreciation of their art.
About Barry Burgess
Local artist, Barry Burgess, has taught drawing with the JDS Studio since 2021. A longtime member of POAC, he has exhibited works of watercolor, collage, painting, and 2-dimensional art in public and private venues throughout the Inland Northwest. His drawing acumen is informed of more than 25 years of architectural practice. Now retired, he maintains his studio of artworks in Sandpoint, Idaho.
