Urban Sketching
Class members will be introduced to basic drawing and watercolor techniques. At the beginning of each class, members will meet in the JDS Studio for an introduction to subject matter and move to the outdoors and explore drawing and painting the historic architecture of Sandpoint. Members will learn and use the following skills:
• The 6 Techniques of Line Drawing
• Composition, Arranging for Design
• Perspectives, 1 and 2 Point Investigation
• Line and Wash Watercolors, Representational and Abstract
• Painting from Photographs
About Barry Burgess
Local artist Barry Burgess has taught drawing, cartooning, and watercolor classes since 2021. A longtime member of POAC, he has exhibited works of collage, 2-dimensional art, and watercolor paintings in public and private venues throughout the Northwest. His drawing and painting acumen is informed by more than 25 years of architectural practice. Barry continues to practice his art at his studio in Sandpoint.
