Watercolor Portraits
Watercolor Portraits will consist of 4 weeks of instruction and painting. It will cover how to choose a subject photo, how to draw the subject, and how to paint the subject using watercolors. Beginning students will do three paintings from the instructor’s photos to introduce them to different poses and skin tones. Experienced students will have individualized instruction as they paint from photos of their own choice.
About Robilyn Robbins
Robilyn received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from WSU in 1975 and worked as a free-lance graphic designer until she retired in 2000. She has taught beginning and intermediate watercolor painting from her studio for the last 20 years. She enjoys painting portraits and, as an. avid backpacker, she often paints small scale plein air paintings while hiking.

Supply List
2 sheets of Arches 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper
or a 9” x 12” tablet of watercolor paper from WalmartPaintbrushes: #8, #4, and #1 rounds (Robert Simmons’s or Utrecht are good med priced brushes for $20.00 or Walmart has a pack of cheap rounds for $4.)
A pencil
A palette (A white dinner plate will work)
A water container
A roll of paper towels
A roll of tan masking tape
A 12” x 18” board to tape your paper on
Supply fee
· A SMALL COVERED PALETTE of professional paint including 5 very transparent flesh tones, 3 primaries, 3 secondaries, and a dark will be provided for a $12 supply fee. Please bring cash to the first class session.
